Cst. Greg Weller
My name is Cst. Greg WELLER #1588 with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service posted to the Fort Hope Detachment of Central Region. I have been with NAPS since December 2018.
I grew up in Southern Ontario, obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Justice Studies with a Minor in Forensic Psychology. I always had dreams of becoming a Police Officer, wanting to follow my father’s footsteps.
In 2016 I was working in private security and was fortunate enough to be introduced to NAPS in the First Nation of Attawapiskat. Speaking with the officers and seeing their day to day opened my eyes to the opportunities that working in remote Northern Ontario would offer.
In 2018, after gaining further life experience with my military career and in-house hospital security, I applied to NAPS with big hopes. The NAPS recruitment process was very streamlined, especially for myself having to commute from the Greater Toronto Area. NAPS was understanding of my travel needs and was able to schedule my interview, psychological and uniform fitting in one day.
I was given word shortly thereafter that I was successful in the process and would begin my policing career at the Ontario Police College in January of 2019.
Three years later my time with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service has been nothing but unforgettable. The unique experiences, the camaraderie and skill sets you gain working in the remote north are unparalleled. If you’re looking for a policing career unlike any other, you’ve come to the right place.
